How to create an invoice
To create an invoice, identify the seller and customer, add a unique reference and dates, itemize the charges, and state the total and how to pay. A readable invoice makes it easier for your customer to understand the request.

Create your invoiceStart with the transaction
Check the agreed price, scope and billing currency before opening the editor. Decide whether you are billing for a completed job, a milestone or an agreed advance. The invoice needs to describe that specific payment request.
Ask whether the customer requires a purchase-order reference or a particular billing contact. Include the reference in your notes and address the invoice to the right business. These details can prevent a document from being sent back for clarification.
Fill in the invoice fields
- Add your business name and contact details, followed by the customer’s name and billing details.
- Choose a unique invoice number and enter the issue date and due date.
- Describe each product or service with a quantity and unit price.
- Add applicable adjustments and payment instructions. Check the total against the agreement.
A filled example
This example uses USD and excludes tax, discounts and shipping. It demonstrates structure rather than a recommended price. Use your own agreed dates, rates and payment details.
| Description | Quantity | Unit price | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landing page copy | 1 | USD 300 | USD 300 |

Review the file before sending
In Go Invoice Maker, choose a language and a currency separately. Changing the language translates invoice labels; it does not translate text you enter. Changing the billing currency does not convert your entered unit prices.
Preview the document. Check names, long descriptions, currency, totals and payment details. Download PDF for a ready-to-share document, or another supported format when needed. Open the downloaded file once before attaching it to your message.
Keep your own copy
Name the export with the invoice reference so it is easy to locate later. Keep an issued copy and a separate record of whether payment arrived. Downloading an invoice does not send it or collect money.
The app keeps invoice history in this browser without a fixed invoice-count cap, subject to available storage. Browser data can be cleared, so retain exported files in your own records. Add any local tax or registration details required for your transaction.
